· IB Diploma Programme Authorization Process
During the summer vacation we will be busy continuing with our work on the authorization process. We have contracted two new teachers with international experience, and five of our present teachers will be attending IB workshops this summer. The laboratory construction is already underway and we are therefore very positive about our chances of success in this process.
We are, however, obliged by the IBO to clarify that the authorization process that we have initiated does not imply that we will automatically be granted the right to offer the IB Diploma programme.

· Group Work Project
Secondary students were introduced to some of the methodology of the International Baccalaureate programme in a group work project. Each group had to cooperate to produce a creative, original and educational board game to a deadline.

· Ecological Festival
The annual Ecological Festival is a chance for parents, students and staff to enjoy some time together in our beautiful grounds whilst also raising money for the school. This year saw several new initiatives, in particular charitable work with “Caritas Felices”, a local charity for children. Approximately US$ 4500 was raised towards our laboratory project. We are grateful to the many dedicated parents and staff who made this event such a success.

· Garden Competition
We are proud to announce that we gained first place in the competition organised by El Comercio and Banco Continental. The school received $3000 as well as access to horticultural advice from an expert for future development of the gardens. The money will be invested in improving our sporting facilities as an integrated part of our gardens. We are grateful to Mr. Heinz Plenge for taking the photographs, our gardeners for all their hard work, and Mr. Héctor Alayza, our landscape gardener for his creativity.

· Child's Day
In celebration of Child’s Day, pupils in preschool were treated to a cinema outing without having to leave the school grounds. Teachers converted our presentations room into a cinema and pupils had to pay for their tickets and pop corn. In this way, everyone had a great time whilst learning some useful mathematical and social skills.
